| VACANCY a fault. The story had potential, but the horror is the last thing that was on the minds of those who have made this effort aborted. The opening sequence shows Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson as a non-stop fighting (slightly) higher than they are about to divorce. Talk about setting the mood. End, like many horror films, in a seedy motel after their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. At the motel, they realize that is being used as a place of torture of people, which was videotaped and then sold to people who lose such things. As I said, the premise has potential, but the end result looks and feels like something made by Aaron Spelling. No script, no scares, no tension. The acting is average. And worst of all, the atmosphere is totally absent. Atmosphere of a horror Vacancy Horror movie is important. Setting the mood is 80% for the success of a horror film. If there is no atmosphere, and the vacancy is the atmosphere like an episode of Love Boat, whatever happens in the story or the actors, it sounds hollow, like this one. With films such as vacant, the horror genre is nearly all dead, but today. |
| I went into this film, knowing the story. Is a typical Friday Terror 13th/Psycho/Hicktown rip-off. However, it is amusing to see and use the usual tricks and history very well. It is a great but small cast and each actor does a good job of making the movie: Vacancy credible. I gave four stars of the film, because I am not surprised. There was no twist or "freshness" that adds to the genre. Beckinsale and Wilson are a credible partner but wanted to know more. If I cared more for them, would be dooming situation more tense. In addition, the mad are nothing but a manic dimension. Rarely speaks throughout the film. The only thing I like people who are mad love to kill with a camera. This Vacancy Horror could have been much better. It was fun, but needed more originality. |
| There are only two positive points that can be rescued from this movie. One of them, the beauty of Kate Beckinsale. Two, the great performance of Frank Whaley. Besides that, everything else in the Vacancy movie is not worth the time. The story is not so bad, but it could have been different from running for a Vacancy film that is truly awful ... I guess it's an OK film: Vacancy for those who like movies or the typical commercial Hollywood Horror, but not for the true aficionado Terror out there. The dialogue between Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson is absurd ... too simple and Wilson's performance is very weak. The killings are simple and leave much to the imagination. The movie: Vacancy itself is predictable and the end is the worst it can not be ... I did not like the opening and end credits that had a score something resembling music Psicosis ... as if somehow this was similar to the masterpiece of the late 60s. There will never be another Norman Bates ... Pinewood Motel and never resemble Bates Motel. |
| The DivX film Vacancy started very slowly - but it was OK because we have an idea of the two main characters and the turmoil in its relations etc. .. However, once the Vacancy film has been pumping too fast. It is too obvious that the man at the desk and was a suspect in the act. And when they were in the hall of the characters too quickly what was going on and really does not go with them on a journey to discover what is happening. Yes, it's a little tense, but there are pieces missing and quickly dismissed. If that had been built a little more than they have been classified 8 / 10, 5 / 10. | You know your having a bad day when you take a "shortcut" only for your car breaks down. Her having an absolute nightmare when you check into a hotel only to find out who was executed by the directors of some Snuff films and is the next big star. That is more or less the premise of vacancies for a modest Horror / Suspense starring Kate Beckinsale and surprisingly funny man briefly turning serious actor Luke Wilson. What I can say about this movie: Vacancy is one of the more traditional fans like this thriller over the last Vacancy Horror film I reviewed. "Disturbia," which does not play a younger audience and not the date of trite dialogue and wacky teenage humor. The sad thing is that this Vacancy Horror film could have been a very solid however, thanks to some missed opportunities and a ho-hum end this serves as half of the number of road thriller. Do not get me wrong has its moments but nothing that we have not seen before and it has in other cases, the better. I can not recommend a price of admission to this, only an afternoon or even a rental. Once again it is not a bad Vacancy movie that not only sings his praises for many years from now. With a history modest enough to keep going and have the level of vacancies: 5/10-Average. With an original ending more and more back in the history of the murderers that would have been an above average police, however, as this is an average Thriller fans who entertain a point, but you will more than likely feel that something is missing here. |
