When Mr. Dashwood dies, he must leave the bulk of his estate to the son by his first marriage, which leaves his second wife and three daughters (Elinor, Marianne, and Margaret) in straitened circumstances. They are taken in by a kindly cousin, but their lack of fortune affects the marriageability of both practical Elinor and romantic Marianne. When Elinor forms an attachment for the wealthy Edward Ferrars, his family disapproves and separates them. And though Mrs. Jennings tries to match the worthy (and rich) Colonel Brandon to her, Marianne finds the dashing and fiery Willoughby more to her taste. Both relationships are sorely tried. But this is a romance, and through the hardships and heartbreak, true love and a happy ending will find their way for both the sister who is all sense and the one who is all sensibility.

I am always interested in how a Sense and Sensibility Comedy film is received on both sides of the Atlantic. This is a DVD movie Sense and Sensibility that won the top award at Berlin, but took a deserved Oscar for Emma Thompson - not for his performance but because of his writing. As delicious Jane Austen in the Sense and Sensibility movie is not an easy task. The film: Sense and Sensibility is unusual. Chinese director Ang Lee ( "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon") is not obvious that the director could have brought this literary work on the screen - still does not deserve all the credit in making the DivX film Sense and Sensibility as a first-class Britisher would have done. Even the executive producer is a renowned director does not mean - Sydney Pollack, who must have known that it was investing in a winner. I welcome Mr. Lee to work with filmmaker Michael Coulter make a Sense and Sensibility Comedy with so many pictures that could have made so many picture-postcard. English landscapes rarely looked so beautiful. Details such as ladies negotiating realistic horse droppings make the Sense and Sensibility film or the silence of the evaluation by a friend of Willoughby Mariannae Dashwood (Kate Winslet) in the dance is executed with care and intelligence, is not common in the Chinese cinema. Mr. Lee is truly international. Alan Rickman, for once, limiting their histrionics and a pleasure to see him interact with well-chosen cast. What this Sense and Sensibility Comedy achieves is not simply to introduce the new Jane Austen readers, but also argue that literary works can be modified smart on the screen, without losing the authenticity of the original, not only by the English, but by people from faraway lands . The jury of the Berlin Festival realized this very well.

This is a remarkable DivX film Sense and Sensibility that does a very good job representing a fairly rigid and hidebound society that often caste system of India seem reasonable and moderate in comparison. One of the most enjoyable for me was the fact that the "sense and sensibility" of the majority had a title yet defined the 19th century and is still very timeless and not intended to bind to the customs of the twentieth century (probably by use of a lever) in a script if they do not belong. Today's views do not belong here. If you want a modern version, either. But it would be, at most, one look pretty weak and the adaptation of the novel, so why make an adaptation at all, then? Not all films have to reflect the current sensitivity. This is a human story and a fine cast and wonderfully witty script. Look for a very dry and understated performance by Hugh Laurie as Mr. Palmer, the long-suffering husband of the daughter of Mrs. Jennings. I was Mr. Palmer, who had long invested in earplugs or opened a vein. Very good film: Sense and Sensibility and the most recommended.
