A newspaper photographer, Jean, researches the lurid and sensational axe murder of two women in 1873 as an editorial tie-in with a brutal modern double murder. She discovers a cache of papers that appear to give an account of the murders by an eyewitness. The plot weaves between the narrative of the eyewitness and Jean's private struggle with jealousies and suspicions as her marriage teeters.

I liked this movie. It was not really as much about the murder of jealousy, obsession and other conditions that can lead a normal sane person over the edge. Illustrating human frailty and imperfection very well. There was a lot of twists in the plot and all the greats. Sarah Polley, Catherine McCormack, in particular, were excellent. It was like watching the same person in parallel time, suffer the same emotions. The dark hair seemed cruel sister Karen as she taunted Maren's tail with his brother coming to America. Although Adaline was not nearly as "cruel", his relentless seduction tactics in front of Jean inappropriate and thoughtless to say the least. I think it's a very nice track mystery and suspense.

"Weight of Water" (an interesting dark, huh?) Is not a masterpiece, and sometimes seems to be fighting for a "greater sense" that is simply not there. However, there is no excuse for its poor critical reception too. Yes, the "seduction" this part of the story is a bit cliche, and the history of the past more or less where it was expected (after a point) to go. Despite all this, the movie: Weight of Water, The is able to move forward the strength of the direction of Kathryn Bigelow, who is in a word, impeccable. Every shot is meticulously planned and - when it has to be - visually beautiful. Bigelow has already proven to be a master of his craft when it comes to the direction of high-energy action sequences, is shown here is equally skilled in subtlety. There are facial expressions, small gestures and glances that speak in this film. Of course, part of the credit for that must go to the smelter, which is most excellent (with the notable exception of Elizabeth Harley), Catherine McCormack, Sarah Polley and are the best, each has its own story to perfection .
