| The first time I saw this 8MM movie in 1999, as I am a big fan of Joaquin Phoenix, and to tell the truth I expected to be garbage, as he had heard of it very badly, but when I saw that, within the first 20 minutes I thought this is really a good film, but really I do not like nic cage gave a very good performance and the private dective hired to find out the truth of a snuff film, when it kills a child, it takes a path becomes more and more dangerous, and meeting lots of different people, including Max California (Joaquin Phoenix) who works at a sex shop and gives the best performance in the film. i would give this 8MM Mystery a very good 8MM film 10/10. |
| I have no idea why this 8MM Mystery film was given a low rating to date. the story is totally unique, the results are outstanding! the sound track was also the (one of) the early adopter "Arab" thing. - If you do not have a Scooby Doo (clue) what I'm talking about, then you have nothing to lose by spending a night cuddle up on the couch watching this great movie |
| Wow. What a shock to see Nicholas Cage in a dog of a movie. The (frankly) joined other tasty films as "Death Wish 2, '' I spit on your grave, 'and' Mother's Day. "While a DivX Movie 8MM about the crime is supposed to have logic, this is just one of a series of murders dumb. A friend of mine who owns a video store said this was one of the worst investments ever made. | "8mm" sucks that from the moment you see the snuff 8MM movie with Nicholas Cage, do not let go until the end, where he spits out encased in a cocoon of bloody phlegm. The director creates a harsh environment that remains constant until the end, but the plot is not so lucky. As others have pointed out, things get ridiculous at the end of the film, if made with more tact could have made "8mm" a great DVD movie 8MM instead of just an entertaining one. Cage gives a good, rather dismal performance as a private investigator hired to determine the authenticity of a snuff 8MM Mystery film found in the deceased husband of a senator from the safe. From there he plopped into the world of bitter deviant pornography, forced to explore the bowels of seeds stomach-churningly dirty underground sexual practices. Amy Morton's performance as the mother of Mary Ann is perfect to convey the emotions of an anxious, depressed mother beautifully. Joaquin Pheonix steals the show as the charismatic owner of a sex shop. Full of suspense, the DVD film 8MM should at least entertain you as you watch with disgust and revulsion in some filthy habits imaginable human. 7 out of 10. |
| I was excited about the first 10 minutes, and then the 8MM movie was only a downward spiral of the tube. Seven I loved what I hoped this DVD film 8MM would be so good. I received a great fall. Almost everything about this 8MM film was awful. Possible spoilers Bad history, bad acting, bad characters: the list goes on. The plot of the film: "If you dance with the devil, the devil does not change, you change." Sounds great, right? By the time you get to see the changing nature of cage, we really do not give a damn. This is one of the worst performances I've seen cage. Joaquin Phoenix is the only character who has the slightest attention and going nowhere. 1 in 4. Do not waste your time. |
