Against the backdrop of Manhattan's changing literary and publishing world, aging novelist Leonard Schiller is asked by Heather Wolfe, a graduate student and budding literary critic, to agree to interviews. He's reluctant to spend the time: his health is failing and he wants to finish one more book. Also he's worried about his daughter, Ariel, who's approaching 40, underemployed, single and wanting a child. But he agrees, hoping Heather can help resurrect interest in his work. As Heather probes Frank's writing and his past, Ariel reconnects to a former lover. Emotions can be raw and messy, and as relationships change, who gets the better part of the bargain?

Unlike many movies, I was continually wanting to know what happens next. I was not watching a movie, as well as see the writing process examined, explore, and enacted on the screen. The director does not mind taking the time to allow the events to develop and deploy, and he brings with him. Music is used sparingly and effectively - with faith in their players and their equipment. Attention to detail was wonderful - Leonard Schiller wear neckties and many many years, using spoons and cups of tea from another era, sitting on a sofa in the 40s, reading lamps with pleated shades, cabinets and walls many times, using a typewriter (the audience clack clack of the keys is the music), contrasts with the Heather tic tic on your laptop, your dirty bed in the background, to write a modern-style lamp. Lauren Ambrose was the perfect counterpoint to Frank Langella and Lili Taylor as a subplot with Schiller and Ariel Adrian Lester was touching and effective. At all times, the actors were perfect. They must win all the Oscars, but they will not. Please do not be fooled by the paltry box office take of $ 600,000 - this Starting Out in the Evening movie is worth 100 times the box office in what is Anyone with a love of writing, good acting, great direction and you should see this movie. Those worth a look; Langella is truly a marvel, his deep, rolling diction imbue all the words with more meaning than most of the actors do a monologue. What tears in their discussions with literary Ambrosio, and offers a slap in the final minute DivX Movie Starting Out in the Evening that has to be the most devastating physical action, in any Starting Out in the Evening movie this year. However, a great actor not to make a great movie, the thing is mired in the summer and winter which the romance between Langella and Ambrose, instead of being a warm, sweet thing, sent shock waves of unease around the theater. Lili Taylor and also making a serviceable job as Schiller's daughter, his only sub-plot does not fit with the rest of the film. Perhaps the biggest problem is that Brian Morton's excellent novel of the same name, was never intended for the screen, which is mediocre, the direction and bullet holes. So, in summary, Frank Langella gives a splendid performance makes this Starting Out in the Evening movie better than it has the right to be.
