| Had high hopes for this movie. I had seen it reviewed in a positive way, and I thoroughly enjoyed 12 monkeys by Terry Gilliam. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. The idea behind the Brazil Fantasy could have worked. The image and the retro-future idea could have worked. They do not. I found myself thinking about an hour in the Brazil film "How did they decide to spend the money to do this crap?" I should have gone with my instinct and turned it after the first hour, but I was hoping that all come together, the story suddenly makes sense. Never happened. My vote: 2 of 10 for a good image My recommendation: Do not bother |
| I did not really know what to write as an owner, so they opted for the simple way out. But I love this movie. It is really great and thanks to the vision of Terry Gilliam. All matches so well together (catchy music, good actors incl. Comparecencia by De Niro, a large and wonderful story). Combine all together as a perfect movie. But I'm just talking about the Director's Cut of the film. The producers made a cut of that film, which changed many things (I will not go into details). The producer of the court is shorter. If I'm not mistaken it was 120 minutes and Terry on the 142-minute version. If you have a chance to grab the Criterion Collection, you can also find out all about the battle / struggle G. Terry had to go through his vision of the movie! You'll also find the producer and director of the court in the DVD. I will go out with that, although I will be humming / singing the main theme (Brazil ....) |
| This DVD film Brazil is a pessimistic look at a future where technology, bureaucracy and efficiency in many ways has replaced humanity and freedom of individuals to do what they want. We meet Sam Lowry (Jonathan Pryce), who dreams that a bureaucrat could fly away from bureaucracy and technology and find the woman of his dreams. The reality of life is very different. He is a slave to the modern, without the need (in) efficiency in which society can not do almost anything without the right way and a seal. In trying to resolve the unjust detention of one Harry Buttle, Sam meets the woman he is recognized as the woman of his dreams (Katherine Helmond). Due to an error, it was believed that Sam is responsible for terrorist bombings and thus becomes haunted by the same people who used to work with and for the life of him and the woman he finally meets danger. In this film, with a cold society is unnecessarily advanced and (in) efficient bureaucracy becomes villains innocent people, no room for human emotions and becomes friends against each other. The movie: Brazil has a "pretty" sense of despair and powerlessness as Sam is never at the top of any situation, but is to be pushed or pulled along by circumstances beyond their reach. The end, I will not spoil, is deliciously daring and back - almost as good as I think it could be. Many (probably most) prefer the Fisher King, so depending on who you are and what you prefer, this can only be Terry Gilliam at his best. |
| Motto: It's just a waste of time. I do not know ... many people who have been assessed as high, I think it would be wrong of me not to recommend to the general public view. It has a good Brazil Fantasy film (hence, 5 / 10), but I found the film: Brazil very boring. It is a satire on society of the bureaucracy, the 142 minutes of it. Some of my favorite movies pick up a small object and then create the deepest and will demonstrate that there are many details of its interior. This Brazil Fantasy simply shows the same thing from every possible angle. Sure it has good camera work and acting large back it up, but the story is just not going anywhere ... I got the point after the first hour. If you see? Ultimately, all people can not be wrong with that at the top # 160 huh? And after all is done by Terry Gilliam (Monty Python - one of the greatest comedies of all time) may not only "do not understand. |
| I was waiting to see "Brazil," because so many people had indicated that I thought it was a great movie. I was sadly disappointed. The Brazil Fantasy film has what is by now a familiar plot - a man overwhelmed by the big brother finds love and tries to fight - and to drag out in a very long and tedious film. The DivX Movie Brazil is dark, not only in spirit but in fact. So many scenes were so dark I could not tell what was happening. The sets are incredibly detailed and brilliantly done, but why? I believe that ultimately became the Brazil movie director obsessed with the dazzling, bizarre scenes of the hope that the dark is mistaken for genius. The few scenes with Robert DeNiro are fun - added some spark to things. But the mechanical action is quite another. Perhaps this DivX Movie Brazil would have been better with better players. I've seen this DVD movie Brazil twice, and was even less impressed by the second vision. |
