Father Lankester Merrin thinks that he has glimpsed the face of Evil. In the years following World War II, Merrin is relentlessly haunted by memories of the unspeakable brutality perpetrated against the innocent people of his parish during the War. In the wake of all the horror he has seen, both his faith in his fellow man and his faith in the Almighty have deserted him, and he can no longer honestly call himself a man of God. Merrin has traveled far from his native Holland in a desperate attempt to try to forget and escape all the evil that he had witnessed there. While currently in Cairo, Egypt, he is approached by a collector of rare antiquities and asked to participate in a British archeological excavation in the remote Turkana region of Kenya. They have unearthed something extraordinary and unusual...a Christian Byzantine church dating from the 5th century, long before Christianity arrived in East Africa, and in inexplicably perfect condition--like it had been buried immediately after it was completed. The collector wants Merrin, an Oxford-educated archeologist, to find an ancient relic hidden within the church before the British do. Interested, Merrin agrees to take the job. But beneath the church, something much older and malevolent sleeps, waiting to be awoken. When the archeologists start excavating, strange things begin occuring, and the local Turkana tribesmen who were hired to work refuse to enter the site. Things only get worse and worse, ultimately resulting in madness and death. Merrin watches helplessly as the atrocities of war are repeated against another innocent village--atrocities he had hoped and prayed never to see again. The blood of innocents flows freely on the East African plain, but the horror has only just begun. In the place where Evil was born, Merrin will finally see its true face.

Why were allowed Reny Harlin on Hollywood? Whywhywhywhywhy? Nobody has seen "Cliffhanger" and "Cutthroat Island?" Why he was left near a DivX Movie Exorcist: The Beginning set, much less be in charge of one? It blows my fragile little mind! This is the worst film: Exorcist: The Beginning I've seen in my life (well, maybe "Mortal Prey" or "Autumn in New York was worse) The gross scenes were so over the top as to be completely ridiculous and only serves to underline the fact that the original and that scares the hell out of you, the scene was more clumsy Regan yielded green vomit all over the poor Father Karras. It was not necessary any STINKIN "crows, hyenas or worms to the point. Adds nothing-nothing-I mean the story of Father Merrin's encounter with Regan years later, I guess that was a reason for losing the plot. Uncomfortable and ridiculous, yes, scary at all. I saw it for free monetarily, but still cost me time out of my life that I can not return, so I'm at least not for long. However, some films are so bad that should be considered crimes for which you could go to jail for participating in them, and this is one of them. Save yourself from this mess. Go to the video store and see the original, if you need a solution.

I have to tell anyone that plans to see this Exorcist: The Beginning Thriller film to please stop now. Save yourself! I am a true fan of all and I love horror movies. The Exorcist has been and always will be one of the best and make good movies of all time. With all the money and talent in Hollywood, I am surprised that they could not come to a better Exorcist: The Beginning film that honors the original. Full CGI really stupid and just startles every corner of this Exorcist: The Beginning Thriller movie I found really disappointing. The story was scattered at best. Become a favor. Leave a bag of popcorn and go rent the original. No matter how many times you've seen, I guarantee you "ll have a better time. Vergüenza everyone who had anything to do with this film. After watching that I feel dirty and dirt do not fall!
