An elderly Jewish widow living in Atlanta can no longer drive. Her son insists she allow him to hire a driver, which in the 1950s meant a black man. She resists any change in her life but, Hoke, the driver is hired by her son. She refuses to allow him to drive her anywhere at first, but Hoke slowly wins her over with his native good graces. The movie is directly taken from a stage play and does show it. It covers over twenty years of the pair's life together as they slowly build a relationship that transcends their differences.

This Driving Miss Daisy Comedy film is so beautiful. Tandy Freeman and warm and makes his characters real (Tandy won an Oscar for his work). Tandy agrees with his driver (free) in a period of years. The plot is so simple, but the direction and acting are fine, it's a play, but did equally well on the silver screen to win an Oscar for best picture. This Driving Miss Daisy Comedy could have been 150mins in draggedout, but together only 99mins. The entire DVD movie Driving Miss Daisy is perfect and even at the end made me mourn for what was so sweat. A must see happen, suitable for family viewing, and although, its worth seeing again and again. A real winner! 4 **** ~ ~ Robert Haines

Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy (in Oscar-winning performance) to invoke the grace and dignity to this delicate treatment of race relations and old age. Freeman stars as a smooth, wise black driver in the service of a brave Jewish widow, played by Tandy. As the years passed, their relationship evolves into a remarkable friendship despite their different origins. The Driving Miss Daisy movie is skillfully adapted from the award-winning work, is developed in the context of changes in civil rights South. Somewhat simplistic to be considered a strong statement on race relations, the Best Film / Best Screenpaly Oscar winner made an encouraging attempt to bear witness to aging with dignity. Freeman has never been better, and the chemistry between the two drivers is just beautiful to see. This is a very special film.

A blend of drama and comedy with great acting is the best way to summarize the movie. Containing the sassy attitude of Miss Daisy (Tandy), with the joyful spirit of their drivers Hoke (Freeman). The plot is good and is not one of those really depressing dramas - its really funny in many places. All actors in this film: Driving Miss Daisy were great, especially Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman. Tandy won Best Actress for her performance, and I think Freeman should have a best actor award. Beware!
